Awesomeness

As we said goodbye at our last wedding in October, we drove into this AMAZING sunset! I'm so stoked about the pictures!

Last night at the Art show I got a pic of my three biggest supporters...it's amazing how much they help me out---I'm especially fond of that one on the right!

October/November 2009

This poor, poor blog...there's pretty much no way to revive it from the dead at this point...and I don't even feel like trying really. But, Natalie so kindly asked for some sort of updating and maybe there's somebody else that looks on here for some updates too...so I'll give a little something!

Life has been CRAZY busy and I'm pretty darn tired! It's been great though---lots of weddings to photograph, even got to do a "destination" type wedding in Rome, GA where the family put us up in a cottage and all our meals were provided...pretty darn awesome!! We were so so tired after the weekend, but had a really nice time.

My kiddo's Art show was last night and now that it's done I can sigh a huge sigh of relief!! Just a quick one though, because there's ALWAYS something next, next is focusing on the yearbook. BLEH....and that's all I have to say about that. The Art show went well, the turn-out was underwhelming considering we have 650ish students and 185 sent in the R.S.V.P forms and then only 116 showed up. But not looking at numbers and that sort of thing----the people who DID come, enjoyed it and had some nice artwork. I just wish more people would come out to stuff like that!

OK so this post is sporadic, but I'm done for now. Here's some pictures to go along with the randomness.

I know that these pictures of the students are CREEPY with the eyes cut off...but I could be sued/lose my job for posting pictures of the students without permission....nobody wants that redonkulousness to happen---so here's their awesome artwork and smiles...

Look at that awesome blending of the oil pastels on the one on the right...that's only second grade. We talked about warm colors and cool colors on that project.

I'm gonna have to get some pics of the awesome 4th grade hamburgers we did, can't believe I left those out!
And this next one is from "Mismatched" Day! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mismatched day...I call it "tacky" day instead! :)

A Few More Before and Afters

Couldn't find the "before" photo for the blue stool, but this another old thing we had sitting around that I've painted and fixed up for a photog prop. There's also the in-progress "old" sunroom "new" office. Started it one night right before school started back and haven't picked up a roller or brush since----guess I need to get back on that soon! :)

Then the seriously Old metal egg basket. Had to really sweet talk my Dad and Paw-paw into letting me have it...even though it was just sitting outside an old shed! Old-er people are so funny how they don't want to give up their old stuff sometimes. I think once they see how I've prettified it, they will be glad they parted with it. :) At least I'm REALLY glad they did...a little newborn nugget wrapped in a blanket is going to be sooo cute sleeping in that basket! :) STOKED.

Julie's Old Chair Before and After

Before and Afters make me so happy! This is what we did to an old chair that was Julie's when she was a little nugget! She has pictures of herself sitting in this chair and she was OH SO CUTE! Since she's been scanning some to make digital copies for her Mom, I will have to post some soon!

This chair is going to make the cutest photo prop!

Photoshoot With Casey and Nikki

I saw a photograph once of a Boston Terrier that was really simple---just the pup on an all white background turned into a black and white picture---I fell in love with it...and recently decided that I needed some of those same sort of artistic, non-cluttered pictures of my own kids. Nikki and Casey were mostly willing subjects---hasn't happened yet with Lucy and Brinkley.

These were my two favorites. Casey always does this when I get a camera near him...so it's very Casey and Nikki is also very compliant, willing to do whatever you want or need her to do...this face is very her. I love these. I might go back later and brighten them up more, still deciding on that.

In college when they wanted us to write about our influences and favorite artists...the two photographers whose work always stood out as my favs were Elliott Erwitt--mostly this picture and Sandy Skoglund--I have way too many favorites of hers...here are some. You've got to click on some to enlarge and see just how crazy and awesome they are. Awesome Art Installations Batman! Of course I can't leave out my old high school favorite, and being obsessed with sunflowers back then, this was my very favorite for a while.

Biloxi, Mississippi June 2009

My first time having room service and riding a jet ski on the ocean!

We didn't take the zoom...so this was the best Mom could do getting us walking to the jet skis...by the time we got to them, the water was almost over my head. Want to feel tired and find muscles you never knew you had then WALK that far through water. Our legs were like jell-o.

That speck is us riding.

These are too much work, so we're just posing!!

Put A Fork In Me, I'm Done.

I'm tired.
I'm tired of being the friend who doesn't receive a phone call to go do something fun, just the phone call to hear about how the something fun has been done with someone else.

I'm tired of being the people who get called for things to be done for people, but not the people who get called just because someone was thinking about us or wants to hang out.

I'm done with doing nice things, making nice things, and saying nice things only to never move up the ladder of friendship hierarchy, but instead to be pushed down further.

I'm tired of sharing the most precious, personal secrets I have, only to never be the person that someone thinks of first when they want to share anything.

We're not the friends that get called to go to a movie. We're not the friends that get called to go shopping, we're the ones who get called about going to do something fun, yet replaced by someone else when the fun is to be had.

We're the friends who get met with jellyfish comments from people we've only ever been 100% nice to.

We're the friends who plan get-togethers and fun times, only to never have it reciprocated. We used to be those planners...been done with that for a while now.

I'm done with being the last to know anything important and having to find out from other people or through some form of internet.

I'm done with always being the one who has to smile and make a big deal over something yet never receive that same sort of reciprocation when we have something to be excited about ourselves over here.

I'm done with feeling like a doormat...speak to me how you want to or ignore me how you please, wait and call me up when you want me to do something for you..I'm done with taking it all with a smile.

I did what I could and I seriously tried to be whatever people wanted or what people needed and yet it was never enough or something...it was always someone else who barely did anything at all who got all the affection or reaped the benefits. I'll never understand it really.

Julie was done a long time ago and I should have been done with her. Guess it took extra roasting for me. The sad part is that after all the nice things you could do for people, this post here will be what is talked about and remembered and that's fine. Not like the nice stuff got me very far, so should I really care what this does? Nobody's perfect and we all get tired.

This is the last time I will make what will inevitably be a mistake for putting my feelings out there. Everyone is always all about self preservation or taking care of their family above all else. This is me finally joining the club, self preserving...I have a family and this is me taking care of it. I'm done.
