Art Installation

Give a somewhat creative person, (whom for once has energy after work) a day where the weather is WONDERFUL, fifteen minutes, some paint, and an idea and this is what you get:

When I came up with the "Top Five" lists I knew I wanted some sort of nifty "5" for the first post---though there really won't be a nifty 5 for every post---I did want one for the first one. I had already done a number 5 on my blog post for the "dreaded 5th" when I got my wisdom teeth out where I took a picture of the awesome ORANGE number 5 pool ball...so I had to think of something else. I decided I would not go searching for a 5 and instead paint one on a piece of metal that's in our old shed. Yesterday while I was out there with a few containers of paint, I thought the wood pile (that's been outside since before we lived here and probably won't ever be used in the fireplace) would look EVER SO LOVELY painted with these pretty colors! I had so much fun painting them and then taking the pictures...my own little Art installation piece. I think it shall be called "Painted Logs" LOL! Or maybe "Colored Wood." Either way really...
There's certainly great fun and stress relief to be found in splattering things with paint. I HIGHLY recommend!

(My peeps who know the colors of the house will recognize the kitchen and craft room here!)

Design Inspiration/Very Pretty Rooms

I found these through other people's blogs and Flickr...very pretty rooms that inspire me!

Hot pink and lime green?! HELLO! Beautiful!

This nursery is SO pretty to me! I absolutely love the green, brown and white together, though a few years ago I would have hated it! Even though this is a nursery and I don't have one in my house, these photos still are so beautiful and inspiring to me! KK the kid's name is Ryan too! These photos come from Apartment Therapy Nursery. A fun place to look around. I see he has a cutie-pie Ugly doll on his shelf too...Chuckanucka is his name, he's cute but not as cute as Big Toe! :) However, saying his name is really fun!

I've always wanted a clawfoot bathtub...not necessarily a green one...but I do like this one!

LIGHTS!

Fun with Christmas tree lights...achieved by a somewhat slow shutter speed and a funky little jump and spin move! :) The top photo of the entire tree shows the outside safety light and it looks like it's jumping inside the window! Click to enlarge.

Lovely Wrinkles

Here is a finished corner in the craft room...with wrinkled curtains that I need to take care of, but I thought I'd share anyway. I like how this little corner turned out and think the colors work really well together.

Here is a tea-towel that I bought from Skinny Laminx. I've been wanting to share a photo of this for a really long time, but just haven't gotten around to it. It also has wrinkles, but I didn't want to take the time to iron them out! I LOVE this so much that I can't bear to use it because I don't want to ever have to wash it and see its lovely, vivid redness fade away. I believe its permanent home will be here in the craft room, but probably---eventually in a frame of some sort. I also hope Sarah's looks great in her new blue and red themed kitchen.

You Know You Were Meant To Be An Art Teacher When:

stuff like this makes you happy!
I LOVE me some new Art supplies!! They are so pretty and clean...and in
full working order. There's a part of me that always wants to protect these
babies from the reign of terror they will be put through during the year. I love seeing the kids get excited over new supplies too, especially the ones whom you can tell will more than likely become teachers, artists or professional organizers someday because of the way they take special care in organizing and loving the supplies. Here you are able to feast your eyes upon a fresh box of markers that has just been opened (the wild hyenas haven't seen them yet...hence how every marker still has a lid.)

Here's a picture of my door this year. Now, people seem to think that because I can do a little Art, that I probably always feel good about it and think it all looks good...that is not the case--compliments go a really long way with me, I never usually think something I've done is perfect...but I REALLY love that pair of kid scissors I did for the door. I was surprisingly happy with the results and that says a lot because I'm pretty harsh on myself.

Bouncy Balls

I have a hilarious story about bouncy balls...the rubber kind you get out of a machine people! Geez! I used to love them so much growing up, had a collection of them and everything. Once when I was in high school, my best friend Erica and I went to see "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" and I had just gotten a tiny bouncy ball out of a machine. The theater was really dark and one of those really intense, sorta scary scenes was playing...the theater was SUPER quiet too! I took my bouncy ball out of my pocket and accidentally dropped it! It rolled down to the front of the theater and you could sort of hear it bouncing. Erica and I lost it, we were crying we were laughing so hard and it made it worse that we were trying to be quiet about it. Totally hilarious and now when I see a bouncy ball I think of that.
For this commercial, I read that they really used about 250,000 bouncy balls and let them go down the streets of San Francisco. Coolness!
To clean up the mess, I'm sure they could have just let some kids have at it!
Here is the actual one from the Bravia site...which looks better than the youtube ones I found. The paint explosion one might look a little better on here too! Also check out how they made them!

Image found here.
You know you can click on blog images to show a larger image too, right? Click on the photo above to make it larger and it looks so much cooler!

Holy Smokes! Here's Some Color For Ya...

I first read about the Sony Bravia commercials on Hue
and had to share on my own blog...I also looked up the making of the paint commercial because the making of it is just as cool. It's not animated, that's real paint exploding! HOW FREAKIN' AWESOME is that?! They definitely could have left out the clown though, because he scares the beegeezies out of me.

Holy Awesome Lego Sculptures Batman!

This just might be some of the coolest shiznick I have ever seen! On Hue,
I saw her post about Nathan Sawaya, a lawyer turned artist who makes the most amazing sculptures using only Lego bricks. They are so radical. Learn more about him here and here.

Google Game

I found out about the cool google game here and had to try it out! Here goes: Melissa needs to board the blob ship that is hovering overhead. The only way to reach it is from the school's rooftop. (On the rooftop I shall go!)

Melissa needs at least 10 hours of sleep a day. (So true, so true!)
Melissa R. needs to crank up the sex appeal, Melissa S. needs to stop being an angelic bitch. (I'm feeling sorry for the Melissa S. chick!)
Melissa needs a very strong, patient adoptive family who will be able to accept that it may take her a long time to come to trust and appreciate them... (I appreciate and trust too quickly!)

After a healthy weight gain of 60 pounds, Melissa needs to get on board with her new body, but would also like to propose to her long-time boyfriend...(A healthy weight gain of 60lbs?! People who KNOW me will trip out over this one!)
If Melissa needs movement to feel better, stay calm, or regain focus, ... Melissa (like many children and adults who need behavior supports) usually...(I do often need behavior supports)

Because Melissa needs to rock the house. (Shoot girl, you know I rock this house!)

While Melissa needs to comb her hair and work on bowel problems, she is clearly a decent and honest woman. (Scary, because my bowel problems are common knowledge...did someone write this about me? I DO comb my hair!)
Melissa needs to do a better job of connecting with the audience...(Who is this Melissa chick they are bashing?)

Melissa needs to stop spreading rumors about everyone especially when she is the bad mother who used to be a hooker with her mom (GOOD LORD! My mom a hooker?! Too freakin hilarious!) Done in R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. order....because everything is prettier in Rainbow order!
