Get Your S**T together 2010

Seriously. Seriously. That's just how I need to start this off. 2010 came in with a bang...first the filtration system got cold and we woke up one weekend morning without water...no biggie---warmed it up outside by piecing together some extension cords and putting the handy-dandy MonkeyBean baby warmer next to it. Worked like a charm and was thankful it was a weekend morning and not a WORKday morning.

Then the POS dryer that had acted like a crazy mofo back in the Fall and was repaired (so we thought) and on the up and up--started acting crazy again and this time we were like "Screw it, you're outta here." When it first tore up--we were in the mind frame of "Get Dad to fix it, because it's cheaper...though never ever easier." The second go around and being tired of not having space to air dry things---not to mention that nice crispy feeling when you dry yourself off with a towel that has been air-dried, and we decided NO MORE. So to go ahead and round it out...hey what the hell, throw in a new washing machine too----because dear old Dad took the other one that broke and gave us one that you could fit about six shirts in and that was it until he repaired the other...that's been a few years ago...so we were done with that too. :)

Been washing and drying clothes and LOVING every minute of it since Saturday afternoon when it got here...even told some buddies we couldn't go out with them and party because we were having so much fun watching things get cleaned and dried like magic. Like butta! I've never been so excited to fold and put away clothes in my life...just to see the piles of dirty clothes make SPACE on the floor again. Pure bliss.

Life was great---Saturday through Sunday morning...but things change so quickly, lol! We were sorta noticing that the WARM air coming from the vents was more like Arctic air. Never a good sign really. It was pretty chilly around here last night...chilly enough to sleep covered in layers head to toe. Nikki wore her cute sweater to bed and was covered in a blanket warmed in the dryer--poor nugget gets the coldest.

That handy dryer warmed up our work clothes this morning for us---gave the whole wardrobe a little warming action then dressed like superheroes---in a quickness...have NEVER been so excited to get to work. :)

Turns out our compressor is tore up from the floor up and because the unit is already past it's life expectancy of 10 years--it has made it to 14 years---it was recommended and we agreed that it was getting its tail kicked to the curb as well. Let's see $900 on washer and dryer... $3000 on heating and air...I figure we're doing great starting 2010 with all new goods. Sheesh. We love our heating and air guy---Ted---he's from the old school---honest and hard working. Excited for him to come back and visit on Thursday with new shiny goods. Wish those goods didn't come with such a hefty price tag but thankful we have worked our booties off to have some green saved up.

Oh--and got bullied by the boss on my first day back from break...craziness.

Seriously though and this is the WEIRD part----all this stuff is going on and I STILL feel wildly optimistic about 2010....a little scared at the same time that I feel this optimistic and hopeful for it---like it's going to all just go to you know what---I'm just happy about 2010...and I'm going to enjoy it with all my new shiny shiznick! Poor----but I'll be warm with some clean, dry clothes. Lol.

And some pictures to go with this lengthy post:

More good news--one of the dogs is so talented that when they ran in from outside (apparently before being completely done with business) they formed the perfect Hershey Kiss. Those are marketable skills.

My first time trying out a snuggie! A friend brought it to work! It really does work! :)

Amazed at these new-fandangled washers and dryers with their nifty settings and whatnot. :) Chosen after many website searches for the best for the price. I love the internets.

Yep, SHE said it...not me!

Because Julie(BEAN) is quiet (mostly) when we're around others...she is the most likely to shock someone with some of the stuff she can bust out with in a conversation. I love that almost everyone we know, could at any given time be surprised or in awe by her. Ever seen her dance across the house or make random animal noises for the fun of it? We both do that sort of thing here at the mansion. Ps...thank you Sarah for giving our house the name "mansion" I can't help myself from using it profusely. See that $.50 word I threw in there...yeah I am full of surprises myself. ;)

Back to the point...ever heard Julie say the word "poo" much less "dookie?" I mean who says "dookie" over the age of 7 anyway? In fact, I am pretty sure they put a ban on saying it after 1986. I don't know that for sure, so I'll google it...right after I get right on cleaning those baseboards.

So it goes down like this---I'm in here working on photoshop type thingies while she's outside cutting grass. She enjoys this bizarre act in a way that I will never be able to---I LOATHE cutting the grass much like Molly Ringwald loathed riding the bus...(that one's for you Krista).

It's hot, the riding lawnmower is LOUD and I hate repetitive, loud sounds that hurt my ears and cause me to wear ear plugs that hurt my ears because they don't fit in there properly. I hate that it jiggles my stomach around---much worse than Sarah's old car ever did. OH and I REALLY REALLY hate how random grasshoppers pop out of the grass and come flying at me at warp speed, usually hitting me in the forehead---there's just too many non-welcomed surprises lurking around every bush.

So anywhoooo....off topic again---wow. She comes inside and says hurry you've got to come see this bug that I'm pretty sure got impelled onto the barbed wire because of the lawnmower throwing him into it.

I refuse to use quotations and proper commas...
I'm like, what kind of bug is it?

You know, one of those dookie rolling bugs...you know which kind I'm talking about right?

Ugh, yeah...which kind was that again?! (I totally wanted her to think I had NO clue what she was talking about just so she would elaborate on the DOOKIE part.)

You know...the kind that goes around rolling poo into balls.

Yeah, dung beetles.

FREAKIN. HILARIOUS. Only at the mansion.

So since we still hadn't broken in the macro on any bugs yet because of them being too quick to catch...we decided what better opportunity than to take advantage of this poor bug as he thrashed around trying to pry himself off of a piece of barbed wire that was stuck into his body.

Magnification on the macro is pretty cool---but focusing is tricky because it will only focus on one small section at a time, throwing everything else out of focus.

And can I just say how weird it is that a bug that spends his life rolling poo has the most pretty colors on his back...he ALMOST has ROYGBIV...you can clearly see he has the ROYG part! :) I think he's pretty.

I wish you could have seen Bean after picture taking torture of bug was over and I plucked the bug off the wire to free him in case he possibly could live...then tried to touch her nose with the same hand---while saying---

I'm touching you with POO BUG hands!!! Yeah, I didn't have siblings.

Ever seen the inside of a dandelion magnified?

Then the opposite with the outside in focus.

Another One Of THOSE Conversations

One of those conversations while right in the middle of it I think to myself, "Only a teacher would be having this conversation standing in the middle of 20 something 6 and 7 year olds."

Minus formal quotations...too much effort...but these...dots....are fun...so I'll keep them...

Natalee: Gage just hit me on my head and called me stupid.

I look over at Gage who can be a tad (I'm being generous) difficult but yet OH SO cute and squishable to me...he gives the best hugs and teaches me the most intelligent things he has learned from afternoon cartoons.

Gage, did you hit her and call her stupid?
Of course this is at the beginning of class before we even started the lesson, so everyone is up there listening.

Gage: Well it's because of what she said.

Me: What did she say?

Gage: She said I pooted and I didn't.

Me: (thinking---seriously?) Well you know Natalee---that was sort of your fault seeing as he did not want you telling everyone he pooted and you wouldn't stop. But Gage you should not have hit her and called her stupid just because she said something you didn't like.
You know class---every single one of you poots...you have all pooted, pooped, burped, thrown up, and peed. You know this right? I have too...we do this because we're human.

Lots of laughter...destruction averted.

Life is good.
We all poot.

Another Installment Of Classic MonkeyBean Mansion-ness

**Out of nowhere, sounds of craziness, pure put you in a straight jacket wildness flows around the office abruptly interrupting the itunes loveliness**
"Yep, those sounds are definitely annoying..."
**Sounds continue**
Then even crazier sounds and bigger annoyances come from the other side of the office...."yeah, don't try to play that game with me, I teach 700+ kids in a week, I KNOW annoying, I LIVE annoying 8 hours a day. I'll always win at this game."
**sounds cease, itunes loveliness resumes.**
All is calm, all is calm.

Classic Quotes

And now for our newest installment of classic, great quotes from the Monkeybean Mansion.

While warming up dinner:
Do you want some of this pasta I made?

Yeah, I guess...it's just alright to me.

Oh, it's better than alright to me. I've been wanting this...it's just so, I don't know--refreshing to me. The flavors are so fresh, so good. I just...

Uh...do you want me to leave out so you can have a private moment with your pasta?

While putting on a hoodie:
You know, with your head squeezed into the hoodie right now, you look like an orange circus peanut.

People think you're the nice one. They are misinformed.

I know, I'm good like that.

Crack what?!

Roughly how the week has gone...

"Ms. G. he just called me a crack hoe."
"What?! Seriously, you called him a crack hoe." *chuckle inside*
"No, he called me a crack hole."

"Well that just doesn't even make any sense, a crack hole."
"NO, a CRAP HOLE!"

"Oh." "Brian, how about I call your mama and tell her you just called someone a crack hole, you think she'd be real happy about that?! No, I didn't think so."

I could have sworn that kid said "crack hoe" which is so 90's and hilarious! But, he's got a slight speech problem so the LE sound wasn't quite coming out right. :)

Here's another:

*following me from table to table*

"Ms. G. my grandma and mama are having a Halloween festival at our house. There's going to be a hayride for adults and hayrides for the children (ok) and a haunted house for adults and a haunted house for children."

"Oh, interesting."

"Yeah, my grandma is so funny...she put on the invitation that it's $2.50 a head, but the body gets in free."

"Right." "Uh--go do your artwork and stop following me around."

Ever tried reasoning with a pissed off first grader?

This week I've given them a sheet of triangles, squares, circles and a couple of squiggly lines and they've had to be inventive and make something out of JUST those shapes...here's what I got today...

"Ok guys, think of all the things you could make out of those shapes...a robot, spaceship, house with trees, etc..."

"But I need six squares!"

"You only get two for this project Gage, that's the fun of it, seeing what you can do with JUST these shapes."

"BUT I HAVE TO HAVE six squares!!"

"You get two."

"I'VE GOT TO HAVE SIX SQUARES. HOW CAN I MAKE MY ROBOT WITH TWO SQUARES?!"

"You've got to figure it out, just two squares and all those other shapes."

"BUT I HAVE TO HAVE SIX SQUARES!!"

"YOU. GET. TWO. SQUARES. GAGE. CHILL. OUT. MOVE. ON. WITH. LIFE."

"What about silver? Do I have to use any other color besides silver?"

"Well I would, it's going to be pretty boring with just silver."

"WELL THE ROBOT IS JUST SILVER! WHY WOULD YOU HAVE ANY OTHER COLOR ON A ROBOT?!"

"JUST SILVER IS FINE....but you only get two squares." ;)

SHEESH.

Twenty Three and Twenty Four aka the day I hid in the storage closet to eat a doughnut!

Yep, that's right. A KRISPY KREME doughnut. And yes, I hid in the closet to eat it. I bought the box of fundraiser doughnuts and they were just sitting there staring at me, calling out my name. I kept telling them it was rude to eat a doughnut in front of twenty second grade students. I told them there was NO way I was giving in and going to eat that in front of the sweet little nuggets. My mama taught me better. I might eat a banana in front of them, but they wouldn't desire a banana...a doughnut is totally in a different league.

But then they just kept on and on and my orange juice and banana from breakfast had dissipated, so I gave in. I didn't eat any in front of the children, but I did take the box into my storage closet and went in and out a few different times to have a couple of quick bites until it was gone. I felt slightly psychotic. :) At least it was just one. ;)

Just a side note...when a teacher brought me my box of doughnuts, she said "You better count them, we've got some boxes that have a few doughnuts missing!" I was like, "SHUT UP!" Either Krispy Kreme accidentally didn't fill the boxes up, or the delivery person had a little snacky snack on the way to the school. FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS!

The mental picture I get of opening each box to find one or two missing, is such a trip!

Nothing else noteworthy to report from the last two days!

Four

I heart Thursdays this year...so far. Today was my best day of classes yet! I triple heart Lennye's class this year. They are fun, funny, charismatic, personable, and just generally well behaved. There's a couple of my best artists in there from last year, but overall they aren't going to be the "prettiest Art projects class" but they will be the sweetest, most fun kids to be around. There was only one kid that I sort of wanted to strangle and that was because he was telling me I spelled Lennye's last name wrong. "Mr. Know It All" just so happens to be a repeat 5th grader this year. I just told him that I was pretty sure I knew how to spell her name seeing as I've taught with her and been friends with her for five years!

Right before it was time for them to leave, I noticed that over half the class had on plaid shorts--so of course that was a perfect photo opp for the yearbook!
For legal purposes, I changed the photo a little bit for my blog! But, they really were THAT happy! :)

Another great moment today came from our precious Seth, now a big third grader! He's taller than his brother who is one year ahead of him. He came up to me and said, "Ms. G. the brown crayon broke." I said, "No problem, let me see it and I can fix it." So as he hands me the broken crayon, he says in a somber pastor/funeral director type voice..."We all gather here today to remember someone we knew and loved. The color brown."

I almost died! I fixed the crayon and said in my ahhhh Heavenly Angels are singing voice, "Ahhhhh...Look! We brought him back!" You'd never guess that Seth's Dad is a pastor huh?!

More Youtubeness

WHAT THE FEBRUARY?! Do they really teach the kids to go "piss piss" over there?! And that is one happy poo floating in the toilet! This is by far one of the craziest things I have ever seen...and yet there were parts that were so outrageous I still laughed out loud!

Craziness.

Wait a freakin' minute....who wants Bizmarkie teaching their kid beats?! This is from a show on Nickelodeon...this is EXACTLY what America needs...don't worry about learning your alphabet kiddos...as long as you can make a righteous beat---you are properly schooled...word. As Sarah would say, "Heavens to Betsy!"

Pics And The Last Funny Things Kids Will Say At Our Old School...

Well kids tomorrow is our last official school day (with children) at our current campus. Next year we're movin' on up to the East side, to a deluxe apartment in the skyyyyyyyy...not really, but we are moving to a new campus/new school building. New as in a SHINY, clean (aka can make it dirty myself/worry over keeping it clean) Art room with MORE than two sinks and those sinks won't leak and make a hole in the cabinet underneath. And for the first year at least there won't be cobwebs and spiders the size of my big honkin' ass Golden Retriever lurking about in the paint shirt box or chillin' with their homies in my damn eraser bucket.

Those bitches loved some erasers and you should have seen the kids when they'd innocently go to grab out an eraser and a ginormous spider was in the bottom singing a little ditty 'bout Jack and Diane. Jesus. Instead they've probably thrown off the entire ecosystem where they've built the new school (aka the swamp) and we'll have alligators and snakes hanging out in the school...God I just can't wait until someone goes to get a paint shirt and out pops an alligator...like "g'day mate, mind if I eat your face?!" I'll be sure to send the kids that I could do without to get paint shirts and erasers...at least for the first year. :)
(One of my very favorite things to jam out to at home!)

Seriously though, while everyone in the building is bitching and moaning about having to pack up (somewhat rightfully so seeing as we are technically supposed to be packed by tomorrow while we still have freakin' students), I am packing away and counting down the moments until I can UNPACK my shiznick into beautifully, organized rainbow colored order happiness...and walk into a bright, shiny, clean room to watch little precious, marvelously miraculous Art students attempt to taint it day by day. It will be blissful...at least for the first 8 hours and I really am thankful for the opportunity to walk into a room that is ALL mine for the very first time, that's pretty rare that any of us ever get that chance. As for the alligators, those are just a seriously cool added bonus. I'm naming mine "Sparkly" you know....like a holiday...and I will let the kids glue glitter and sequins on his back...because that makes a big mess. ;)

This moment might just be crazier than the one a couple of posts earlier where someone asked me if I'd eat them if they were fried chicken:

Kid: "I didn't think about coming to school today, so I wore these shoes."
Me: "Well where in the world did you THINK you were going?"
Kid: "The beach."
LOL!!!!

Kid: (showing me her leg) "Look at my mosquito bite. I've been scratching that."
Me: "................."

(And while we're at it...I jam out to this as well, doing the instruments on my very own vocal solos! LOL!)

It's Time To Ride Out

Time to find a getaway car and ride out to vacation! The kids are getting nuttier and nuttier.

Yesterday in class 4th grade Sam holds up his left arm and says, "Ms. G. I can't draw today, see?"

"Sam aren't you right handed?"

"Well yeah, it's still so hard though..."

While smiling coyly, "Sam aren't you RIGHT handed?"

"Yeah." :) He had to smile at that one too!

In 3rd grade:

"Ms. G., Christopher just said that a girl's part is called a p***y."

"What?! You just told the PRINCIPAL'S SON that word?! Have you lost your mind? Would you walk right up to her and say that word?!"

"No."

"Well you might as well have!"

Should have seen her face when I told her that one!

In 5th grade:

"Ms. G. that new substitute really likes Mr. Fears."

"Huh? How are you for sure?"

"Oh she was all about asking what he's like and she asked if his teeth are crooked or straight."

LOL!!

Things I probably shouldn't find quite as funny as I do

but I just can't help myself!

No Colonial Sanders, YOU'RE WRONG!!!

Every single part of this is sick and wrong...but cracks me up every time!

Oh gosh! On this one 00:30-00:33 for some reason is so hilarious to me!

Walking BEFORE midnight Patsy...

We're trying our best to start a new walking habit. They say if you do something for thirty days...we'll see if we can stick to it for the requisite thirty days and then maybe it will become a good habit.

Here's a picture I took on our walk around Indian Springs yesterday evening. On the second one I changed some hue and saturation levels. Julie says it should be called "Psychedelic Easter."

In other news, I've been picking up Lennye's son Gabe from his bus stop sporadically (I SO love using that word and am not ashamed to admit that I learned it the first time I saw the movie 'Clueless') these last couple of months and there's always an interesting conversation with Gabe who is in the 6th grade.

On one trip he brought up his college choices and the major he had already decided would suit him best. He says to me, "I've already narrowed my college choices down to three." Brown was one of the choices...I was like "DANG DUDE!" He's crazy smart. :)

He's not a "buckle up as soon as you get in the seat" kind of person so we'll be a little ways down the road (as in not even a minute) when my car frantically reminds me that the buckling hasn't occurred...so it's the same every time..."Uh, Gabe...you forgot to buckle." So he says to me yesterday, "Do you have to buckle that thing in when nobody sits over here because it will just keep beeping?" And I was tripping out, because I've NEVER thought about how it actually doesn't beep when nobody is sitting over there. (my old car was OLD OLD and didn't have these new-fandangled technologies---I was lucky if it had the technology of getting me back and forth to work!) And I say to Gabe, "No way, I never thought about it, my car knows when someone is sitting in the seat, it has a nifty sensor." That Gabe. Can't get much past him.

Today when I was dropping him off, one of the neighborhood kids was riding on his bicycle and pulled it into the driveway. He said to Gabe, "Oh man that's the new Ford Edge, you're riding in style today Gabe." I wanted to give myself a big high-five. Cool points from a kid, nifty. :) "The NEW FORD EDGE...the coolest car in the pickup line, kid approved." YEAH BABY, YEAH! Now I need some of those crazy magnets on the back of my car that are the shapes of all of the sports and activities my kids do...oh wait, mine would look like Eat. Sleep. Poop. Play. Eh, not a big fan of those magnets anyway. I'll just get the one where you have the little family and the dog, except I'll have a custom order because we have to switch the dad out for another mom and pay extra for an additional three more dog decals. Heh.

By the way, Lennye gave me a lot of Cherry Coke to say "thanks." That rocks! I'm not sure if I'm sharing yet. :O

I couldn't resist...

Had this photo for a while from a restaurant here in town...do you guys remember when Mike Myers did the skits on SNL where he sang the song, "well you know my name is Simon and I like to do drawRINGS." and then he would sometimes say something about looking at his meat and two veg?! He'd also say, "You Cheeky Monkey, were you looking at my bum? Bum looker!" It was based on this. My best friend Erica and I would go around calling each other "Cheeky Monkeys" and "Bum Lookers." Cracked me up every time!! Guess ya had to be there. :) (I can't believe I can't find the right skits on Youtube!)

This post seems fitting for two funny conversations from the MonkeyBean mansion (we don't really live in a mansion, but Sarah likes to call it that!)
Once again without quotation marks...because these......are fun to type and these " " are not!

Monkey: People say "only" children are selfish and I'm here to say that--that's such a lie and a generalization that's typically uncharacteristic.
Bean: What do you mean?
Monkey: Well for instance, take this moment...here I am being generous enough to give you the last sip of my favorite drink in the house, Cherry Coke. That is definitely NOT selfish behavior.
Bean: (Laughs) Crazy, this isn't the last of the Cherry Coke, there's more in the pantry.
Monkey: Well, I didn't know that, so it stills counts.
Bean: (Laughs some more) You're totally right. Thank you so much! :)

Monkey: Have you seen the camera battery charger?
Bean: Nope.
Monkey: It was right here, seriously. (After searching five separate places and then coming back to the same one) OH...look it's right here where I thought it was supposed to be.
Bean: You're always losing stuff like that.
Monkey: Not really, I don't ever lose things. I just put them somewhere and then forget where that is.
Bean: Ha...ok! :)

Cute Kids

These are so cute and funny! These are some of my favorite cute kids that have been seen all over the 'net now.

Say WHAT?!

The kids at school were QUITE chatty this last week before Spring Break! Here's some things they said...

From Kindergarten:
(Minus all the quotation marks...I don't feel like putting them in here, you know they are quotes!) ;)

Kid: This marker smells like liquor!
Me: How in the world do you know?!
Kid: I tasted beer, it was nasty.

Kid: Ms. Gunter please tell JeRico that I can love Arianna for a friend.
Me: Yes,that is true.
Kid number 2: But he wrote I LOVE Arianna.
Kid: I can love her but not be IN LOVE with her.
Me: Wow. Very true, very true.

Kid: D'Andre, my momma told me if I didn't hit him back, that she'd give me a spanking when I got home.
Kid 2: Gosh Chantz, what kid of momma do you have?!
Kid: A good momma.
Kid 2: No she's not.
Kid: What'd you say about my momma?!
Kid 2: I'm just saying, she must not be a very good momma if you get spankings. I never get them.

Kid: I have a whochaka.
Me: A what?!
Kid: A whochaka, it's a dog that runs real fast. He's a brown puppy. His name is Marlin. Now that I think about it, he's probably not a whochaka.

Kid: I'm friends with Reagan but I'm buying Andrea a ring. A fake one.
Me: So you like Reagan for a friend, but Andrea for a girlfriend.
Kid: Yeah.

Kid: My Auntie has a masterpiece in her house.
Kid 2: What's a masterpiece?
Kid: It's something that's real nice.

After a discussion on making sure your marker lid snaps so our markers won't dry out a kid yells out to the class:
Be QUIET guys so you can hear your marker lids snap!
I wish it was that easy! :)

Kid: Can we take these pictures home today?
Me: Yes, these are just free-time drawings, so they can go home this time.
Kid: THANK YOU JESUS!

All of those were kindergarten...here's two from first grade:

Kid: Boys are SO annoying! They make the girls clean up and do all the dishes.
Me: I think you are right on that one.

Kid: I messed up my picture, I colored outside of the lines.
Me: It's ok, just color the rest outside the lines and everyone will think you meant to do it.
Kid: You are so good Ms. Gunter, how you know that stuff.
Kid 2: Sometimes it's ok to go outside the lines huh?!
Me: Exactly, sometimes it's ok to be different and do your own thing.
BIG SMILES! :)

My Morning Started Off

like this:

Damn. Apparently I was too close to the side of the garage, I thought I had enough room. I was mad at myself and sad about now having to spend money on something that shouldn't have happened. I'm bummed that it happened to something so new. It sucks, but I'm glad it was just that and no innocent bystanders were harmed in the tainting of my new vehicle. (By the way, that should be said in one of those t.v. warning voices.) ;)
Thankfully, the day went up from there and not down...I was scared of what it might have looked like if it had gone downhill...blood, carnage, wailing and gnashing of teeth, pestilence, famine...things I am grateful for not incurring on an idle Friday morning.
On to more pleasant viewing:

a cute little panda that lives in the craft room. He lived on my desk for a little while but decided there were cooler things to hang out with in the craft room, like color coordinated ribbons.

Two funny stories from this week and then I'm going to go saturate myself in video watching with Bean and the Gang on the sofa. (Not to be confused with Kool and the Gang.)
First story:
Destinee a second grader comes to me this morning and says,
"Ms. G. I'm related to Connor and he moved without taking his artwork. (except when she said it, it was more like "artwook") I could give it to him if you like.

"Oh excellent! Where did he move to, somewhere nearby then?"

"Kansas."

"Kansas!"

"It's far away."

"Yes it is far away, so you're going to mail him his artwork then?"

"No, I'm going to take it to his house, I went to his house yesterday."

"Hmm...well then I'm thinking he doesn't live in Kansas (Toto)."

"Well yeah, he doesn't live in Kansas, I don't know where he lives."

ALRIGHTY THEN! :)

Yesterday my Kindergarten class was really chatty! (The one where way back at the beginning of the school year on here I said I'd always miss a Thursday if given a choice...has gotten much better!) They wanted to share every little detail about their lives within a 10 minute time frame. Finally I got them quiet enough to show them what we were drawing and painting and a few of them said, "How do you know how to draw EVERYthing?!"
I paused for a moment and figured this was a grand time for teacher scheming so I said, "I ALWAYS listened to my Art teachers!" ha! I'm not lying when I say that it worked for a few minutes! They got so quiet and listened to me very intently. It was Supa Dupa Cool.

Here's the movies we are stoked to finally get a chance to see this evening:

Unoriginal? What?!

Sarah, you're not even going to believe this one! Apparently "redonkulous" is not original! Can you even believe that someone else made up such a crazy word and more insane people use it than just me?! While surfing the net I found it on someone's website then decided to google it this morning...and it's more commonly used than just out of the mouths of monkeys. It says that it originated on the t.v. show "The O.C." which I've never watched. Julie and I were both floored...I seriously thought that was some stupid something I had come up with! So now I don't know if I saw it at some point and time and it was just hanging out in my brain, or if it was something I just happened to say one day. Weird. Like we always say, there's pretty much no original ideas left in the world, which I'll have to be honest and admit that sometimes I think way too much about how I'd like to come up with ONE single thing that has never been thought, said or done.

This is quality...no drugs or alcohol involved even

"You know that little Geico lizard is precious. I like how he says 'they literally give you a biscuit with butter and jam.' I would wear him on my shoulder all day just to hear him talk."

"Yeah he is precious, I might would french kiss him."

"Um, I might would put him in my panties and let him wiggle about!"

hhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaa

"I should totally put that on my blog, but what would people think?!"

"You've got to DO IT! Do you really care?"

"Yeah I guess you're right...oh how weird, why don't you have my new blog banner on your computer?! Oh wait, that's because I didn't put it on there yet!"

"Heh!"

Holiday Candles

...that should most definitely be said in the voice of the Target Lady from SNL...if you've never seen those skits...you are missing out!! Try NOT to laugh! ANYWAY...here are some pics of some of the holiday Art projects I did with the kids. My second and third graders designed their own candy canes, 1st grade did the ornaments on a tree branch, and second and third did holiday candles! :) I think they turned out rather well!
