Happy New Year!

2008 was gangsta'! No, not really...but we did have a fun time with these sock hats that Julie's mom got a couple of the grandchildren for Christmas! We had everyone put them on and give us their best gangsta' pose...it was on a whim, and it was hilarious. I call our photo the "Pretty Gangsta' and the Goofy Gangsta'" I just couldn't stop laughing.
The Pretty Gangta and the Goofy Gangsta
Julie's mom cracked us up the most!
The Gangsta You Don't Want To Mess With

I DID NOT make any resolutions but I did make a list of the 9 (which I changed to 10 because odd numbers are icky) things I want to do in 2009--that's within reason--no New York and Hawaii just yet...
1. Visit a new GA state park every couple of months (make use of the park pass we just bought).

2. Travel to and photograph New Orleans on a long weekend.

3. Visit Callaway Gardens and put the macro lens to good use on butterflies!

4. Ride Bikes at Indian Springs.

5. Go to more movies at the theater, like the good ole' days.

6. A long weekend beach trip.

7. Have more movie night get-togethers with friends.

8. Finish getting artwork that is sitting around here in frames and on the wall.

9. Play outside with the dogs more.

10. Rent a cabin in the mountains.

Nelly Said It Perfectly...

Its gettin' hot in here, so take off all your clothes! Seriously, the smaller the amount of clothing in the house right now, the better. The air conditioner works sporadically...then has to be cut off again to thaw out. I think it's SO HILARIOUS that it couldn't kick the bucket just a couple of weeks ago when it wouldn't have been a big deal to sit in the house with no air. Last night it was shocking how little I slept in! Normally I'm all about the t-shirt and undies for sleep attire...last night was MUCH less! :) This afternoon we helped a friend move some boxes out of her house and on the way home, I drove veeeerrryyy veeerrrryyyy slowly up the driveway. So Julie goes, "What are you doing?" I said, "Just prolonging, the air works great in here!"

I think I feel the sorriest for Brinkley, because he's the furriest of us all. Poor guy has slumped his ginormous body over the floor vent here in the living room like it's miraculously going to pour out some cold air onto him any minute. That's sweet that he doesn't know better! No worries kiddies, even if *mama has to pimp herself out, big, COLD air is on the way!

*I've been assured this won't have to happen! :)

Georgia Scorcher

Today was 100 degrees my friends!! It's not even the middle of June yet, I can't even imagine what July is going to be like! We went shopping today and it was HOT HOT HOT. For the first time we used these bags:

It felt good to not partake of the plastic bag epidemic...we wondered what the cashier would say and she just said, "WOW, that's a BIG bag." about the blue IKEA bags. Those bags are so cheap, only $.59 and hold a ton of stuff. I remember Sarah blogging about them one time. The other bags are beach bags from IKEA and were only $1.59 each. That's a steal!

The air conditioning unit here at the house has to thaw out again...we knew this day was coming...having to buy a new one. Damn. That's all there really is to say about it. I mean we bought extra stuff while out shopping today so as to not have to travel the 20 mins or 30 mins to go buy food/supplies so that we could conserve more gas/money...to come home to a hot ass house because of a jacked up air conditioner that we're going to have to fork out money for. Last summer the air conditioning repair man told us the problem is that the unit is too small to cool the house since the previous owners added on the sunroom/office area. Those two rooms alone added too much to the rest of the house for the air conditioner to cope with it. Today, he didn't cope so well and we're in here burning up. I'm all for saving the planet, but not the part that says discontinued use of the air conditioner. This place just gets too hot. I don't know how many of you can sleep with windows open and fans going (I think Sarah does) but we just can't hang. Yes, we're that spoiled...kinda like those people that have to have a soy latte every morning or night, or a glass of wine...we have to have functioning air conditioning. Mr. air fixin' man is getting called REAL soon if it's already 100 degrees on June 7th! (You should see the dogs panting...they are like, "WHAT the freak?!")

Orange Camera

Look what I just ordered:

A lovely orange camera! So you might be asking yourself right now, "Why do Monkey and Bean need a new camera when they already have a kick ass camera?" Maybe you didn't use those exact words. But, here is the answer to that...this one is waterproof to up to 10 feet! You can actually take pictures and videotape stuff underwater! It's also freeze proof and shatter proof to a point. So radical...and did I mention it's orange?
Now we can take this rugged off-roader places we were too worried to take the Cadillac camera.
All made possible with the $600 Economic Stimulus check I received when I thought I was only getting a $300 one! No worries...the rest is going into savings. I can't tell you how excited I was to open that check and see a 6 where I thought a 3 would be. Once again proof that an even number is a gazillion times cooler than an odd one! Woohoo! CEEE--LEEE-BRATE good times, come on! :)

Oh, I just can't help myself....

Here is my latest obsession. I think of this before bed and when I wake up. My dreams are fully technicolored with little Ford Edges driving back and forth! :) I'm 90% sure that my Chevy loving Dad will disown me after this purchase, but maybe he'll forgive me after a little while. Funny, I said I'd never drive a Ford...but I've certainly learned that you end up doing a lot of things that you've said you'd never do! Following my gut has proven to bring me happiness in the past, so I am sure the Ford Edge won't disappoint. These aren't pictures of my Ford Edge...because it's still on the lot...but hopefully, it won't be long until it's got three happy dogs in the bag and two excited people in the front, cruising along. I'm thinking having my very first brand new car in time for my 30th birthday will be prime!
