Recent Happenings In Pictures

Some tile samples arrived from the magic internets...via the magic credit card (always gets paid off in full I must add! Don't want any financial advisors coming after us!)

The red is right on the money, looks like yummy jolly rancher candy and will eventually be for the guest bathroom floor. The hot pink for the kitchen backsplash is a difficult one, maybe just not hot pink enough--but nobody has what I'm looking for.
We went to the fabric store in Macon last night and bought these magnificent fabrics for some upcoming projects.

We also thought it would be fun to visit the Salvation Army there to find some nifty props..didn't find any but Julie was as giddy as a kid with a lollipop when she found these records for $.50...she bought them for her nephew Chad who collects records.

Julie and I saw this last night:

I have to say, while the movie was exciting and good, I just can't get into Christian Bale as Batman. I strongly, strongly dislike him as Batman. I HATE the way he tries to make his voice sound like the sexy, deep Batman voice---he goes over the top with it and just sounds like he needs a Halls cough drop! George Clooney, now there's a perfect Batman...SEXY. Also this being the only comic book series movie/character I've ever gotten into (must be the rubber suit and misfit bad guys!) it's important to me that they pay homage to the old school 80's-90's Batman movies. For instance---they are trying to go darker for these Batman movies and while the Joker came off as evil-maniacal--we felt like he didn't do the crazy Joker laugh quite enough. Oh well, that's the problem with re-making something sometimes. Gotta take the good with the bad.
After three days, I was able to draw on the fridge:

Things Done and To Be Done: Guest bathroom

Earlier today I started thinking about the mental lists I have of all the things that we'd still like to do around the house...when we have more time and more importantly MORE money. I decided to start placing my mental list on my blog, to maybe free up some brain space for other things to think. :) That, and lists are so much better with pictures! (Please forgive the somewhat funky lighting in these pictures, the lighting is horrible in there.)
This is the hideousness before I painted. I am PRETTY sure it was the first room to get painted! I can't for the life of me understand why they would do this in a small space or in fact why they'd put that shade of blue with that brown anywhere in a house!! ACK!

We're covering up this horrendous flooring with red glass tiles (probably) that look something like this:

This shower curtain will be replaced with a red and white one...haven't found one that is suitable yet. I never knew that I had such a deep hatred for most shower curtains, but truthfully I think most shower curtains look completely tacky, cheap or trashy. I've found that I'm very picky about a shower curtain and would LOVE to not even have one, but have one of those cool showers that you step down in with tile surrounding everything and no shower curtain. That project is too pricey though and takes away money for eating and an eventual swimming pool, so won't be happening.

We've already changed the light fixture and painted the cabinet white. We've installed a new chrome faucet and chrome cabinet door handles. I want to switch out my painting for a different one. The mirror also needs to be smaller so that it fits underneath the light fixture properly.

We're keeping these 'hot and cold' shower curtain rings because they're nifty.

I want to take this digital picture I did off of this wall and put up a few other pictures in its place.

OH AND LOOK AT THIS!!

I should not have even typed in the words 'hot pink tile'--but I did and now I'm all like, "hot pink tile backsplash in the kitchen or hot pink painted backsplash with magnetic paint?!" Decisions, decisions. I like the hot pink that's on the top right!

What Consumes Us...

This is a picture of an example of the many things that have consumed our time lately...no the toilet paper doesn't represent nasty poo Kinsley and Sarah! HAHA! ;)
This is a lovely toilet paper holder from (cue Heavenly music and angels) IKEA! Ahhhhhhhh....hear the angels from on high singing the praises of IKEA! Julie and I took a fun little trip up to the ATL. and bought some things for the house from IKEA. This lovely treasure is one of them. See, Sarah mostly gets excited over crafty things from antique stores, (she also gets excited over BK chicken fries which she converted me to and Regina Spektor's song "Fidelity" which I introduced her to!) whereas I get excited for anything that gets Julie and I closer to being done with any house renovations whatsoever. This lovely, shiny step closer to being done, holds our toilet paper ever so wonderfully. We were living without one for about two months while we took our time painting and searching for one that worked. It always seemed like the toilet paper roll was in a different place each time, so now when I sit and glance over I really do thank the Swedes for their many cheap yet durable and shiny inventions.

Something I made recently...

I made this the other night using scrapbook paper and now it hangs in the **Lovely** blue bathroom...the second picture is a close up with a slight reflection of me, because I couldn't get a good angle without one. :)
