Photoshoot With Casey and Nikki

I saw a photograph once of a Boston Terrier that was really simple---just the pup on an all white background turned into a black and white picture---I fell in love with it...and recently decided that I needed some of those same sort of artistic, non-cluttered pictures of my own kids. Nikki and Casey were mostly willing subjects---hasn't happened yet with Lucy and Brinkley.

These were my two favorites. Casey always does this when I get a camera near him...so it's very Casey and Nikki is also very compliant, willing to do whatever you want or need her to do...this face is very her. I love these. I might go back later and brighten them up more, still deciding on that.

In college when they wanted us to write about our influences and favorite artists...the two photographers whose work always stood out as my favs were Elliott Erwitt--mostly this picture and Sandy Skoglund--I have way too many favorites of hers...here are some. You've got to click on some to enlarge and see just how crazy and awesome they are. Awesome Art Installations Batman! Of course I can't leave out my old high school favorite, and being obsessed with sunflowers back then, this was my very favorite for a while.

Happy New Year!

2008 was gangsta'! No, not really...but we did have a fun time with these sock hats that Julie's mom got a couple of the grandchildren for Christmas! We had everyone put them on and give us their best gangsta' pose...it was on a whim, and it was hilarious. I call our photo the "Pretty Gangsta' and the Goofy Gangsta'" I just couldn't stop laughing.

Julie's mom cracked us up the most!
The Gangsta You Don't Want To Mess With

I DID NOT make any resolutions but I did make a list of the 9 (which I changed to 10 because odd numbers are icky) things I want to do in 2009--that's within reason--no New York and Hawaii just yet...
1. Visit a new GA state park every couple of months (make use of the park pass we just bought).

2. Travel to and photograph New Orleans on a long weekend.

3. Visit Callaway Gardens and put the macro lens to good use on butterflies!

4. Ride Bikes at Indian Springs.

5. Go to more movies at the theater, like the good ole' days.

6. A long weekend beach trip.

7. Have more movie night get-togethers with friends.

8. Finish getting artwork that is sitting around here in frames and on the wall.

9. Play outside with the dogs more.

10. Rent a cabin in the mountains.

Turning Thirty-One

birthday poster
Yesterday's clouds, rain, and gloomy weather were thankfully no indication as to how great I felt yesterday and how well the day went. I have some fabulous friends that made the day really special! A few of my buddies threw me a little lunch party at work---and was even thoughtful enough to get me a pizza with no four-legged animal involved. I thought the thoughtfulness involved in that was really, really cool. You don't see that kind of thought put into things much anymore. Thank you to everyone who made it special in one way or another. I'm lucky to call you friends.

Before retiring to the sofa to eat our yummy take-out and watch a few netflix movies, I took some photos of how the day looked. It looked a little like we weren't in Kansas anymore, Toto.

The cake incident
Oh and the cake incident...I blew out my candle and was transferring the cake from one table to another--which aren't even a ruler apart from each other---and FLOP---dropped the entire cake onto the floor icing first. The Art room floor is not something you want to eat from----we did scrape up the top layer of cake and icing. As soon as it happened the room erupted in laughter--I did too because it really was a hilarious surprise. Of course I felt badly that I ruined the cake, but because they all handled it so well, you certainly couldn't be upset about it.

Blast From My Past

No freakin' way! When I was a kid Mom and Aunt Peggy would take me to Showbiz Pizza place in Macon and then when Kerry was born, all four of us would go. My mom's favorite thing to do was play Skeeball and my favorite thing to do was watch the Rock-afire Explosion band while we ate pizza. Oh my gosh, I LOVED IT. Sadly, Showbiz Pizza place went out of business and you now know that building as the Olive Garden--the one in the same parking lot as Big Lots. I remember being so sad about Showbiz closing. Well I saw on someone's blog that the creator of that animatronic band has a youtube following where he takes song requests to choreograph the band to.

While I NEVER saw them sing THIS song in person, this is still oddly fascinating to me! They are just a piece of that sweet time in life where things were simple and good and are tucked away in my little memory box. I can't conjure up any memories of decorating Christmas trees with my mom or learning a new craft with her...but I have the memory of sitting next to her enjoying every minute of the Showbiz pizza band and watching her excitement as she won tickets for me while playing Skeeball...and those memories are priceless.

I've never gotten food from the Olive Garden. They destroyed the sacred ground of the Showbiz. Skanks. :)

I *heart* Fall

JOE: Brinkley is my dog. He loves the streets of New York as much as I do -- although he likes to eat bits of pizza and bagel off the sidewalk, and I prefer to buy them. Brinkley is a great catcher and was offered a tryout on the Mets farm team
but he chose to stay with me so that he could spend 18 hours a day sleeping on a large green pillow the size of an inner tube.

Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly-sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms.
Sweetwater Creek
I LOVE Fall and am so glad October is here. For some reason I think it might be my favorite month even though it seems busy. There's something about it though that feels special and makes me all giddy. November is a lot like that too---but not so much December--even though birthday and Christmas are then. Probably because January-March is just around the corner and they are SO NOT my favorites. New York in Fall, that's a dream that will hopefully become a reality one day.

I wonder...

I wonder if these things affect others as well...

Ever since I discovered how completely radical google reader is, I can't stand to go more than a week before cleaning out all of the unread, updated blog posts. If you don't know about google reader or other blog feed readers, they are simply amazing. I would be embarrassed to admit how many blogs I am subscribing to for updates and if I did attempt to count, I probably can't even count that high. :) All you do is copy and paste the blog address into your subscription list and your reader updates every time those blogs have a new post...so you don't spend all this time searching, clicking, etc...to keep caught up on your favorite blogs. It's ridiculously cool and addictive really.

Anyway, that is keeping me from doing things like reading up on our school's missions, etc...for the upcoming SACS interview I have to be a part of, and writing out my individual/school goals and plans for the class keys evaluation stuff I need to do...blah blah.

Also I get distracted by the WEIRDEST things I enjoy doing at the oddest times too. Since I know I MUST and NEED to do these other things, I will find a million other things to do instead. Sometimes it's organizing my sock drawers by color or patterns(Yes hell I have two sock drawers busting at the seams---but they are small drawers. geez.)

Or it might be that today is the absolute day that I have to take everything out of my desk drawers, reorganize, and throw away 5% of it and put the other 95% back in, but this time MORE organized than before. :)

One time I spent an afternoon reorganizing the bookshelves based on type of book--not by color---considered it but everything would have been too hard to find and I had the R O Y G B but not so much of the I and V. :(

One of these moods is how the closet got organized with short sleeves in color order on one side and long sleeves in color order on the other side.

The kitchen junk drawer has been de-junked and re-junked A LOT over the last five years and the hall closet recently got a little re-do of its own. We had two plastic containers that had mixtures of boxed medicines/extra creams/shampoos etc...and that really got to me one random day---so now the top container has everything that is in a BOX and the other container has everything that is in...a non-box container. :)

To my point...today is the tenth time or so that I've dedicated to cleaning out and organizing my online bookmarks because I can't STAND for them to just be all hanging out with each other when they clearly have nothing in common and are just there to get on each others nerves. They are SO much happier now that I am putting them in folders based on their personal likes and dislikes and this makes me smile. :)

Memoir Mondays: A Graduation Story

Lennye has been participating in Memoir Mondays and I don't intend on doing all of them...but I think I will do this one because it is a graduation story...

I graduated from Crawford County Comprehensive High School on June 6, 1996...6/6/96...very easy date to remember!

It is difficult for me to remember how I was feeling on my graduation night. I know I was excited, but also a little sad because I was scared of change and would have been content living my life in High School with those same friends that I was very close to. I didn't want the future to change things even though I knew it would, and of course it inevitably did. I was the sap who cried at the end of the ceremony.

What I remember most about my high school graduation night is that my Dad did not come. Not because he was sick, not because he was out of town, not because he was at work. He did not come out of purely stubborn, selfish reasons. A few months before there was a banquet partly held in my honor. One other person was receiving an award that evening and I didn't know this at the time, but it was an old, retired teacher that taught my Dad when he was in high school. (We graduated from the same high school.)

My Mom and I didn't think to invite Dad to the banquet where I was receiving a Youth Achievement award from the Chamber of Commerce and Dad's former teacher was receiving a sort of lifetime achievement award. Neither one of us thought to invite him because I was 18 years old and he had NEVER shown any interest in attending anything school related of mine. He never met any of my teachers, never attended a parent teacher conference, open house, awards ceremony, and never had the responsibility of picking me up from school if I was sick. So why would we have thought to invite him this one last time? Yes, we should have invited him...but at the same time, he could have been the ADULT and said that he wanted to go. Was he waiting for a formal invite from me handed over on a silver platter with a rose?! And what really hurts me about it, is that he wasn't even upset that he didn't see his own daughter receive a great award, he was mad and pouting that he didn't get to go see his former teacher receive his award.

So, to "get back at me" basically, he didn't attend my graduation. My grandfather and step-grandma came, numerous other members of my Dad's side of the family--and of course everyone on my Mom's side...but no Dad. He used the excuse that he had to stay home and work on his car. That would have probably been a great excuse if it was the vehicle he would have needed for work the next day...but it was an extra Volkswagon beetle that he was repairing for fun. Nice excuse. Mom later told me why he really hadn't come and I was so furious with him. I later forgave him for not attending, but I still think there's an open wound for the principle of it all. He SHOULD have loved me enough and been proud of me enough, to attend my graduation no matter if his feelings were hurt for not having a stinking formal invite to something months before or not. He should have.
Oh and that Volkswagon beetle...turned into a really awesome car with a custom sparkly red paint job...that he told my mom would have been my car if I had shown interest in being out there with him while he fixed it up. Excuse me?!

Once again, punishing me for something I didn't even know anything about. Whatever, I didn't want a non-air conditioned stick shift that I couldn't drive anyway. Mom tells me all the time that he is proud of me and who/what I've become. But he never tells me and I get tired of her acting like he is so sweet and sentimental and telling me that he tells it to HER all the time. I NEED to hear it, not her. People need to see it, they need to feel it. I'm sorry if I'm someone that you need to tell it to me directly. I don't like receiving my love and praise through a third party. It's just a little hard for me to believe. That's just me.

I'm sure he has long forgotten that he happened to not show up for my graduation. And though I don't hold it against him anymore, Alzheimer's will be the only thing that makes me forget. He really has made some wounds and poured salt in them over the years.

I only walked for one Bachelors Degree in college and Dad did attend. I wore a fake sunflower on my cap so my family could spot me easily and just because that's how I rock it! During pictures I stepped in an ant bed and Dad rushed over to help get them off of me. :)
Oh and a funny story...during my high school graduation I forgot my diploma underneath my chair on my first time walking out...so had to swing back around with the next row and grab it, it made for funny video footage!

Here are a few pictures I scanned in from both graduations:
These were a few of my very best friends in high school-Dyana, Amanda and Erica. Amanda even wore a sunflower dress because of my favorite flower and nickname! :)

More Random Thoughts And Things About Me

**Back in college I was as skinny as a fourth grader! Ridonkulous!!
See:

**I can't stand to let my feet hang off the bed...I guess I've just seen too many horror movies over the years.

**I will gag on a banana if I put too much of the mushy stuff in my mouth...as with other non-crunchy foods. I think this started in fifth grade when two of my best friends and I were playing around at lunchtime and stuffed as much banana (way too much) in our mouths as possible, then went to spit it all out in the lunchroom bathroom...so stupid! That's not the only crazy food related thing that happened in fifth grade...we had the meanest math teacher ever--I wanted to like her like I wanted to like everyone, but she was just so mean and boring. Well one day at lunch she happened to be sitting about two tables away--across from mine and we were joking around with those weird little potatoes we used to get at lunch that are in the potato gravy stuff and I put one on my spoon and was pretending to flick it at my friend across from me. Well, it FLEW two tables away and landed RIGHT BESIDE the dreaded math teacher. In my best class clown speech ever, I say to her "I'm not even sure what just happened Mrs. C. the potato somehow just FLEW right off my spoon. I'm terribly sorry, this of course will never happen again." It was most excellent. :)

**The first and only time I've ever flown was with James, my boyfriend at the time, in college. I was AND STILL AM terrified of flying. James had just gotten his pilot's license and gone through all the practices and tests and wanted me to be the first non-instructor that flew with him. Of course I couldn't say no to a quasi-new boyfriend I was trying to impress. UGH. It was NOT that fun. For starters I took too much dramamine...you know how most people can get away with half and feel fine? I didn't know this. I took two because I wanted to be EXTRA EXTRA motion-sickness-less! Instead I felt like a crazy ass-hyped up on crack cocaine where's my cocoa puffs just got sent to rehab patient. My nervous energy mixed with the dramamine was so not a good mix. But I pulled it together, I mean this guy was CUTE and worked in the paint department at Home Depot---could repair things really well--AND had a flippin' sailboat. I hadn't known him long enough to know what was wrong with him, obviously there had to be something right?! So anyway...back to flying. Once inside the plane, I sunk down as low as I could so that I could NOT see out the window---I do have a healthy enough fear of heights and of course flying was the one thing in the world I was terrified of most. That little plane dipped down every single time we hit pockets of air that were various differences in temperature. I looked out the window ONCE and was so stoked to be back on non-moving land when we landed. All in all, it was a neat experience. I was also SUPER proud that I held my shiznick together without throwing up or wimping out...I was on cloud nine. I have not flown on any airplane since----even though I'm told over and over again that the big ones are better---I think the fear is being crowded up on all those people and trapped with them in the air or something---that and thinking that the one time I get on one will be the time it crashes. :0 Sorry the pics are tiny---they're on a scanned scrapbook page. Bigger if you click on it though.

(oh and since I know you're dying to know, James...turned out his faults were deal breakers---too materialistic, with an attitude of being better than most people and not sensitive or caring in the least when things weren't all about him.)

**I once was told by a now ex-friend that I put people on pedestals and expect too much out of them--then when they inevitably fall, it upsets me.
This statement really gets to me, and I have dissected it way too many times over the years. I still stand firm in my belief that what is so wrong with expecting a lot from people?! I don't mean material things...I don't even mean their time and energy so much. What I mean is their ability to act like a decent human, a good friend...to be the one who makes some efforts every now and then too. I think people should be held accountable some. I guess the statement bothered me because it is partially true, with some incorrect feelings behind it. Yes, I do expect a lot out of people, I guess because I expect a lot out of myself...so it seems logical. I think that over the years too and after being disappointed by enough people, I've started putting less effort in, when I used to put all the effort in. I've lost the energy and gotten tired over the years, I've wanted someone else to take over and do a little more of the work. I think I felt like if it wasn't working back then when I did enough to be labeled 'friend of the year' then what's the point now?! That's sad to me too, that I've let people eat away pieces of me like that, like a slow burning acid. Now I invest myself in a much smaller few and it seems to get smaller and smaller as the years go on. I've been told this is a natural process, but to me it always feels so unnatural. Julie says this is why she trusts and invests in a very select few...but me being the eternal optimist or just plain stupid, I still put my trust in people that technically it is probably best to not.
Life is always a lesson.

As Promised

Oooh Oooh Oooh I'm excited to finally get this project underway. The wall behind my computer in the office has been blank for quite some time and then I had a magical idea about what to put back there...a wall of enlarged black and white pictures. Nat gave me the address to Mpix and I just did one photo to see how I would like the size. I love how it turned out. We measured and with this particular size I can make four rows of three pictures. So, I'm doing three of each dog because I really love some of the pictures I have of them and want them displayed. Something about having my work enlarged I feel like a REAL artist. :) Look ma, I'm a real artist! (That should be said in the voice of Pinnochio!) I'm sure the wall will come together relatively slower than I would like because of not wanting to eat Ramen noodles to have a wall covered in photo enlargements ;) but I'm excited that it's on its way!

My desk area:

Did I ever tell you the story of my desk (as if you care right?)...I'm telling anyway. I loved this desk when it was at Target, but felt like it was too much money. Well, my Aunt Peggy works at Goodwill and the Target is just up the road from it, so when they get rid of stuff they send it over to the Goodwill store where she works. Because part of the corner was chipped a little, they sent it over to Goodwill and the price was drastically reduced...woo hoo...new desk for me! :)
My favorite thing on my desk is my Claes Oldenburg-esque clothespin paper holder I got from Kohls. I love me some Claes Oldenburg, I would love to visit all of his large sculptures he did with Coosje van Bruggen!
Especially Spoonbridge and Cherry!

Summer Hair

Julie came home cracking up over my hair yesterday and said I looked like a mad scientist. This is what my hair looks like when I've washed it and gone to sleep on it without blow drying it...then not paying much attention to it the next day! :)

Summer break rocks my world.

Music I've Known

Sarah did a post about her top 5 most transcendent live musical experiences of all time
which leads me to my post...I haven't had five transcendent live musical experiences so my post is about the top music that I've known and loved since I was a kid. These are songs my mom sang to me, danced around the kitchen to and that I learned all the words to before I was out of elementary school. I heard these songs all the time as a child and still enjoy most of them. I used to finish my homework on the 2.5 hour school bus trip home so that I could immediately go out to my trampoline with my Fisher Price microphone stand and hot pink/purple tape player to perform these tunes for my very patient audience, four black labs. Mom definitely has good taste in music, from the music selection, we apparently were a big Motown family! :)
(in no particular order)

1. Stand by Me-- Ben E. King
2. Please Mr. Postman--The Marvelettes
3. Mama Said--The Shirelles
4. Splish Splash--Bobby Darin
5. Bread and Butter--The Newbeats
6. Try A Little Tenderness--Otis Redding (Otis rocks...so many of his songs are awesome!)
7. Cupid--Sam Cooke (His music was played a lot in our house!)
8. Chain Gang--Sam Cooke
9. When A Man Loves A Woman--Percy Sledge (Another big one in our house)
10. My Girl--The Temptations (Besides 'you are my sunshine' this was the next song I can remember learning and mom singing to me all the time--The Temptations were played more than anyone while I was growing up! 'My Girl' also a very sweet movie!)
11. The Way You Do The Things You Do--The Temptations
12. I Heard It Through The Grapevine--Marvin Gaye (I used to make my California Raisin collection from Hardees sing and dance to this one!)
13. Respect--Aretha Franklin (I think R-E-S-P-E-C-T was the first word I learned to spell!) :)
14. I Feel Good--James Brown (I once slid into my 8th grade homeroom singing this song.)

Hmm...one of those not so great "firsts"

Yep, that "maker of frownie faces" is my very first grey hair (sorry but grey looks way more wicked awesome to me with an 'e' instead of an 'a'.) My very first grey hair, blah! I'm not all that affected by it (I like to show off my skills of the proper usage of 'affect' and 'effect' too Sarah) ;) but it is one of those things that for most people doesn't happen in your twenties and so when you turn thirty and BOOM! there it is, it's like 'nah, nah, you're getting older...' Like one of those playground bullies that when nobody is listening, you tell the other children it's certainly OK to punch him in the face if he keeps it up!

Julie thought it was just the most precious, adorable thing she had ever seen. By the time she had asked permission to snatch it out of my head, she had already picked out a name for it and was on her way to Target to buy cute polka-dotted dresses and jumpers for it. I, however was much more underwhelmed. She's just been wishing one of these on me for a few years now, so it was like a mama when you first get your period or boobs...you just would rather be dead while she's gushing over how you're now a woman and all these other things that you wish would have never come out of her mouth. Thank GOD we don't ever have to relieve those days!

I'm just SOOOO glad that THIS time, there's no God-awful, makes me want to hurt somebody, itchy, training bra to hold up something that was barely even there in the first place! ;)

My biggest internet confession yet...

(hopefully I'll still have friends after this one, lol!) I had some major hots for the New Kids on the Block boys! You just don't know!!

So they are saying that they will have a reunion tour...they are going to be on the Today show tomorrow (that's funny to me...Today...tomorrow...yeah, anyway) Thank the sweet Baby Jesus for Tivo! I'm not even going to lie or try to play it off like I was mildly in love with this boy band back in the day....if so, lightning would strike me right out of my desk chair for lying! The word 'mild' doesn't fit into any category of how I felt about this group. They ROCKED my world!! :) I was a 10-13 year old girl who worked her tail off collecting EVERY single thing that had any resemblance of them on it. The pillows, the pins that were the size of your head, the shirts, the scrapbooks, videos...really the list goes on and would just grow more nauseating for the NKOTB haters. :) I was SO in love/lust with these boys it's not even funny. My walls used to look like that BOP magazine threw up NKOTB pinups everywhere!

To hear that they are having a reunion just makes that little tween girl part of my heart go pitter-patter with utter joy and excitement. It's like your first true love that you may have moved on from, but still have that slight crush or excitement over. They were the first boys I wanted to have some Hot Hot make out sessions with! Just kidding...not really. They were the only thing I ever had that much of an obsession with and had to know everything about, have everything involving, etc...I haven't felt the need to collect so much or obsess over something like that since. Me growing out of them and when they sort of fell off the face of the earth, was such a bitter-sweet breakup. ;)

I EVEN have videos (total embarrassment contraband) of my friends and I pretending we were them--singing and dancing to their songs. I SO could never run for President! :) Those things would be all over youtube. :) Those and the VERY tastefully quasi-nude portraits for a couple of photography assignments in college. heh. (Mom wont be finding out about my blog anytime soon now!) ;) ANYWAY, sorry...back on topic...I'm just so ADHD crack-rock giddy about my boys!

I was TRULY, madly, deeply in love with some Donnie Wahlberg. Probably not the one you would've guessed was my favorite, though I did love some high pitched sounding Joey McIntyre too. I have already forewarned Julie that if they are indeed going on a reunion tour, the teeny-bopper in me will absolutely try for better seats than the one time I saw them in Florida where I was up so high they looked like tiny ants. Maybe seeing them one REAL/last time in person will be just the closure I need to mend that broken heart. LOL.

Ps....I'm really a complete dork in the fact that I can still remember every word to their major songs. :)

Donnie sang lead on this one and I thought he looked OH SO fine in this video back in the day!
Just get on the floor and do the New Kids dance YO!

And I loved this one...and there may be a video of me singing this...but if you ever saw it, you know what I'd have to do to ya!

I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged by Sarah
The rules for this are easy:
1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Here are my random things:

1. In Middle School my best friend Erica and I went to movies a lot (while mom was in a different movie of course) and lots of crazy things happened. Once while in 'The Hand That Rocks The Cradle' we had taken out some bouncy balls that we got out of a machine and during a really quiet, serious part, I dropped mine and it went bouncing down the movie theater floor--we busted out laughing and were trying so hard to be quiet. Another time during the movie 'Leap of Faith' I got up to go to the restroom but because the EXIT doors and the door back into the movie theater weren't labeled, I opened up the freakin' EXIT door during the movie and the whole theater lit up with bright sunshine!! Naturally everyone turned around and I said, "oops." Erica was laughing so hard when I got back! :)

2. I daydream often about living in a hip, downtown loft in a cool city with my own business of some sort underneath...of course with my peeps there with me!

3. I always said I would NEVER fly and was always very scared of it...but I have flown in a very small Cessna plane once my boyfriend at the time, James, got his pilot's license (He flew lots of times with his instructors first though!). He begged me to fly from Adel to Valdosta and back with him and I didn't want to disappoint...but I figured I was going to die. I didn't tell my mom so that she wouldn't have a heart attack. On the day of the flight, I took way too much Dramamine and felt freaky from it. I only looked out the window once and prayed the entire time I wouldn't throw up in front of him OR DIE. I did neither and would never go on another Cessna. He flew it fine, but the wind and hot/cool air pockets made us sway and dip way too much. I'm still terrified of flying!

4. I think most people look more attractive (some pretty hot) in hip glasses and a crisp, collared, white shirt.

5. When I was little my family was hanging out in the yard when my Dad drove up in his Volkswagon Bug. I was excited to see him and didn't know better when I jumped up on the tail pipes once he parked...burnt the bottoms of my feet PRETTY badly and screamed a lot. Mom doctored them with aloe.

6. Number 5 made me think of this one...also when I was younger I got in trouble for running OUTSIDE (where I was always told to run) when I fell on a random cactus we had in our woody yard. The cactus needles covered my stomach and hurt majorly! My Dad pulled each one out individually with his knife that he used for everything. It was excruitiating. (Oddly enough, I have never had a broken bone...knock on wood!)

I only have four people to tag that wouldn't think I was crazy for popping on their blog and tagging them out of nowhere! Sarah tagged everyone we both know in 'real' life already! :)

You KNOW you have an addiction when...

All in the time frame of about two weeks you have:

A. Taken the laptop to the toilet with you. Might as well multitask.

B. Sat in the tub with the laptop on the floor outside and caught up on someone's blog (Nat's Video Warehouse of newly uploaded Photoshows!) :)

C. While sitting on the sofa you heard your computer in the office "ding" because you've gotten a new email...so naturally you must check the email on the laptop while staying on the sofa!

D. Chose a hotel for a future trip because they have internet access in the rooms! HELLO...it has to be fun uploading photos to your blog while chilling out at the hotel in the evening!

HOLY SMOKES, that is a sickness!!! Whew, I just get the shakes, twitches, and sweats when I'm away for too long! LOL! I don't know which one to be more ashamed of really...but hey, at least I'm keepin' it real in 2008...in lots of ways, mostly. ;)

We don't need an intervention yet because I'm still bathing and brushing my teeth--so far.
COME ON...FESS up...you've got to have a funny/embarassing addict story of some kind!Lee, you and Lennye...I don't even want to know!!!!!!!!

Top Five Lists

I thought it would be fun to start some random "top five" lists to post here...this came to me while trying to fall asleep last night and trying my best not to dread work too terribly! I think it's fun because it made me actually THINK about things that I don't always take the time to think about. And sometimes, it's just fun to make lists! So here goes...just post your list in the comment section if you like.

If you could only eat at 5 places for the rest of your life, what five would you choose? (Think carefully---you've got to pick some places where you get multiple kinds of food so you don't get bored...this is the rest of your life we are talking about here!) ;) You don't have to list why you chose them if you don't want to, you can just list the names.

1. Red Lobster (I'm ALL about the popcorn shrimp and tarter sauce--it's my fav. meal!)
2. Pirates Bluff in Valdosta (Stuffed Snapper YUM!)
3. Michaels Deli (This way I could get in my oven-baked subs, sandwiches, pitas, burgers, salads, chicken and yummy fried mushrooms and fried corn nuggets!)
4. Dairy Queen (So I can have ice cream, fries and every now and then a chili dog)
5. Papa Johns (Not because it's my favorite pizza, but because I love dipping my pizza in the garlic-butter sauce!)

MUSIC!

I'm so stoked to present the new music player to the right...it's got 75 songs that mean something to me in some shape or form! It definitely has something for everyone too, there's a lot of songs that I've jammed out to with my buds or at least had a conversation about. You look hard enough, you'll find "our" songs on there I'm sure! :) Some are just plain old school songs that I used to deafen my mom with in the car before I was graced with my own ride. She got to the point where she figured if you can't beat her, join her...so she learned the words to "Whatta Man" and "Shoop." Well she thought she knew most of the words! How radical is that?! There's some tunes that Dyana and I used to jam out to in her canary yellow Cadillac back in high school...songs I still belt out when chilling out in the bathtub (those are called my bath time songs!) :) I made it so it wouldn't automatically start when someone went to my page, because I didn't want anyone sending me hate-mail for it. I know how annoying it gets when you're trying to be quiet or have a peaceful moment, next thing you know you click on a page and music is blaring out at you because the volume was up and you didn't realize it....so if the mood ever hits you, they are over there...waiting for you to shake your grove thang to! Yeah, yeah!

Something You Might Not Know About Me...

I really love stuff like this and it's really the only reason why I sometimes miss Valdosta, because of going to VSU's dance shows. They did a tribute to Prince once...SOOOO amazing and there was another where they were wrapped in white cloths and all you could see was glowing white cloths moving to the music. Too cool. I like contemporary dances to slower music too, but haven't found a clip of one of my favorites yet.
