The two days in which I rant about awards and clubs...since the important people have already read this, I've deleted the extra...we remember what this one was about.
Holy Moley. Just caught up with the past few days of your blog...and I am now seven years older!! :) Seriously though--I am with you on how NUTS it can be to have to deal with the 'powers that be' and their idea of what YOU should be. Arghh!! I think you are doing a most fabulous job on the art--I was just telling someone how impressed I was at how you really hit the ground running this year. Seriously, zebras and liberties in month ONE? Most other art teachers would still be doing boring color wheels! I think you rock as an art teacher and I'm proud of you for standing up for the little non-artistic kids who are just as wonderful as the rest. :)
oh. i've been sitting here trying to find some sage advice hidden in my spice rack. i don't have any. seriously, how do you rate talent? especially when it comes to art and music? it's so subjective. i love some artists and can't stand to look at/listen to some that are "established" as the rule from which to be measured by. if i find something sage-like hidden in my cabinets somewhere, i'll let you know. keep on keepin on, sister. you're fightin the good fight and it's worth it.
Thanks y'all...you just made my day! I've been like a nervous Cocker Spaniel all day waiting for my turn to get the verbal attack since I am sure it's coming...trying to get my defenses up and tell myself to not get so pissed or upset that I start crying (because I SOOOO hate when I do that at the most inopportune moment). So far I haven't been confronted...but tonight is our school dedication so I'm about to have to go BACK to the school after just leaving! Argh! Thanks so much for the sweet comments! :)
