Mothers Just Like Any Others...
oh gosh how I love when I can come up with a goofy little rhyme! Couldn't let Mother's Day get too far gone before giving a shout out to the coolest moms on the block...US! Heh!
Seriously though, we totally think of ourselves as moms to the four-legged variety. I feel as though the job is just as important in its own rights as being a mom to the two-legged kind. These babies would exist even if I wasn't their mom, but they need someone to take care of them and do what's best for them and I feel like we do a really good job of that.
To anyone that would say it's ridiculous to call oneself a mom to an "animal" this is what I have to say about it (the shorter version!)
We worry over their well being, ailments, overall health issues and try to do what's best for them.
We get excited over the simplest of their accomplishments and triumphs even if they're as weird as going potty OUTSIDE as opposed to INSIDE..and "oh look, you learned how to sit when I told you to."
We think about their futures and I especially lament over what will happen to them if something were to happen to both of us...it's highly unlikely that someone will be kind enough to take on the responsibility of FOUR dogs and promise to not separate them and love them wholeheartedly.
We feed them, bathe them and give them kisses and hugs at bedtime. We miss them when we're apart and will long for their presence and mourn their absence when they're gone.
If those things don't describe how a mom feels about her babies, then the definition of a good mom has definitely gotten lost someplace over time.
Now on to the fun stuff...attempting to take a picture with two tired adults and four uninterested wildebeests. We didn't even bother trying to make sure our clothes, hair, etc...looked lovely because we figured the pictures would be a bust. We just wanted to do it for fun to see what we'd end up with. Here are all of the outtakes and the one quasi-decent one at the bottom. Fun times! ;)
Hello Nikki, would you like to come out from back there?!
A bug flies in Julie's mouth and she chokes! How rare that you get a genuine all out laugh on camera...I had to keep this one!
Everyone's 100% dysfunctional here.
Just about to give up completely.
This one will certainly do for now!

Cute pictures!
Beautiful family! Great smiles! The last pic of you, Julie, and the kids is suitable for framing.
Happy belated Mother's Day :)
