What's Been Happening Lately...

School is finally over!! I know that we are spoiled as teachers seeing as MOST people work more than 180 days a year...but though we have a ton of holidays, we surely do work way more (unpaid) extra hours than a lot of people give us credit for! I would love to be enjoying this freedom from work by participating in one of my favorite activities...SLEEPING LATE...but the floor guys have been here these last two days and they get here way earlier than I'd like to be awake on a day off. I am stoked though that the nasty carpet is being replaced by hardwoods and so far it looks really nice! We already had hardwood floors in the sunroom, office, and kitchen so it's just a continuation of all that throughout the entire house. The only one who seemed to think it was odd is Brinkley. We were surprised when he wouldn't step OFF of the hardwoods in the kitchen to come into the newly sectioned hardwoods in the living room...when they are EXACTLY the same. It was odd for a minute, but he finally walked over. It might have been because the floor guys left the sofa in a different spot. The dogs and I have our own little cave that we are spending the days in while they are working. We are in the office area so that the dogs won't constantly bark at the guys while they are trying to work. It sorta reminds me of when I was younger and my cousins and I would build houses and tents out of sheets and chairs. The dogs have their beds in here, blankets and water. I've got some snacks, water, books and magazines. I also put sheets over the office windows to keep it more like a dark cave so that the bright sunlight won't shine on the computer screen and so we'll stay cool. Here are some pics from the weekend...The one of Brinkley is when we had the dogs closed off recently in a back room while we hung out with our friend Rose's husband Kevin. He stayed here for a night while waiting to go pick Rose up from the airport. She went to visit her dad in (Lennye will love this) OKLAHOMA! ha! Anyway, he's not really a dog lover, so we locked the dogs up in the spare bedroom and apparently they got bored. There were some maps and visitor guides that we hadn't put back in the attic and as you can see, they no longer exist. The other photos are of more recent blooms in the backyard.
